Patient Participation Group

Non-urgent advice: What is the PPG?

The PPG is a Patient Participation Group (PPG for short). The group is composed of volunteer patients, practice managers, and one or more GPs from a medical practice. The main purpose of a PPG is to work collaboratively with the practice to improve services, provide practical support, and to help patients get more in control of their own health. Core members of the PPG meet regularly to discuss the services offered and suggest improvements for the benefit of both patients and the practice. They operate independently on behalf of all patients, ensuring that patient voices are heard in the decision-making process.

Your PPG are always looking for more patients to join both their virtual and core groups, could this be you?

All communities, groups, genders, ages, ethnicities, and disabilities representing our patient list are encouraged to join.

The PPG are currently in the process of reviewing candidates for a new PPG Chair, updates on this will be shared as soon as we have them.

What makes up the PPG?

  • PPG Chair - The PPG Chair assumes leadership to facilitate the group in achieving its objectives, generate ideas and initiatives and formulate a PPG agenda: additionally, the role is to maintain productive relationships between the PPG members and the wider patient list and to, collaborate with the GP Practice.
  • Core Members - This is a smaller group of members that attend regular in person meetings with the practice management and or GP partners to discuss topics of interest, review practice performance and areas of need.
  • Virtual Members - These are members that help by responding to emails, giving their feedback on selected topics that will then be brought forward to the practice for review.
